Which card stock should you choose?
| Stock | Feel | Best for |
|---|
| 14 pt Uncoated (standard) | Thick, natural and easy to write on | A classic matte card, appointment times and handwritten notes |
| 14 pt Satin | Smooth, with a soft, low-glare sheen | A polished look with rich color |
| 12 pt Gloss | Shiny, with vivid color | Photos and bright, colorful designs |
| 16 pt Uncoated | Our thickest uncoated card, still writable | A heavier card you can write on |
| 16 pt Gloss | Extra thick, with a bright gloss finish | Bold color on a sturdy card |
| 18 pt Gloss | Our thickest card, with a bright gloss finish | A premium card that feels substantial |
Not sure? 14 pt uncoated is our standard and most popular business card stock. Go up to 16 pt or 18 pt for a heavier card. Choose uncoated if anyone will write on the card, since ballpoint pens can smudge on gloss. Our Paper Stock Guide explains every option.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a standard business card?
A standard U.S. business card is 2" x 3.5". Set up your file at 2.25" x 3.75" to include bleed, and we trim it to final size.
What is the best card stock for business cards?
14 pt uncoated is our standard and most popular choice: thick and easy to write on. Choose 12 pt gloss for bright photos and color or 14 pt satin for a smooth, polished look, or go heavier with 16 pt uncoated, 16 pt gloss or 18 pt gloss, our thickest card.
What should we put on a business card?
Your name, title, company, phone, email and website, plus your logo. Many people add a QR code, social handles or a short line about what they do. Keep it simple so it is easy to read.
Should we print on both sides?
For most businesses, yes. Put your name, title and contact details on the front, and use the back for a logo, a QR code, your services or an appointment line. Front-only cards work well for a clean, minimal look.
Can we add a QR code?
Yes. A QR code is a great way to link to your website, booking page, menu or event agenda. Keep it at least 3/4" wide with a plain light background, and test it with your phone before you upload.
What is the minimum order?
You can order as few as 50 cards and up to 10,000. The price per card goes down as the quantity goes up, so a larger order is a better value if you hand out a lot of cards.
How should we set up our file?
Add 1/8" of bleed on every side and keep text and logos at least 1/8" inside the trim line. For a standard card, that means a 2.25" x 3.75" file. Use 350 dpi images and save a PDF with fonts outlined. Size templates are on the upload page, and our Artwork Guidelines walk through bleed, safe zone and Canva setup.
Do you check our file?
Yes. You approve a free online proof at checkout, then a real person checks your file for size, resolution and print setup before it prints. Please double-check spelling, dates and phone numbers on your proof, since we print the text exactly as you send it.
Can you design our cards?
Yes. Choose "Let us Design for You" when you order and our art department will contact you about your project. Design help starts at $45 and is added to your order. You can also upload your own print-ready file.
How fast can we get them?
Choose 5-business-day, 3-business-day or next-business-day production when you order. Production time does not include shipping, so for a conference, trade show or event, add UPS transit time and leave a little cushion. You can also pick up at our Highland, Indiana shop Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. Up against a deadline? Email info@flyoverprint.com and we will tell you what we can do.
Do you charge for shipping?
Shipping is charged at UPS rates, and UPS Ground is free on orders of $49 or more anywhere in the U.S. Need it sooner? 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air upgrades are available. Local pickup at our Highland, Indiana shop is always free.
